Celebrating National Tree Week 2021
An Cathaoirleach Una Power, Chief Executive Philomena Poole and Director of Community and Cultural Development, Therese Langan planted an ornamental flowering Tree Halesia Carolinia commonly called Silver Bells in the grounds of Fernhill Park & Gardens. It will be a beautiful addition to the collection of unusual and spectacular trees throughout the gardens.
Also in attendance was our Senior Parks Superintendent Ruairí Ó' Dúlaing and Executive Parks Superintendent Aidan Ffrench who is currently overseeing a review of the Councils Tree Strategy. The title of the new strategy – 'A Climate for Trees: Human Well-being and Nature’ should be completed later in 2021.
National Tree Week continues until the 27th March with tree planting throughout the county and within our parks ongoing. For online events and other resources visit https://www.treecouncil.ie/nationaltreeweek2021
