Blackrock Scouts Bring Creativity to Life in EU Presidency 2026 Mural Project

An Cathaoirleach Cllr Barry Saul joined young people from the 29th Blackrock Scout Den as they helped create a mural designed by the Scouts as part of the EU Presidency 2026 Community Mural Project. Delivered by The Walls Project in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, the project gave participants the opportunity to explore themes of resilience, preparedness and innovation while developing a creative vision for their community. The completed mural stands as a colourful and lasting legacy of the Scouts' contribution to Ireland's EU Presidency 2026 programme.

"Standing at the 29th Blackrock Scout Den on the day this mural was unveiled, you could feel the energy of a community coming together in support of Ireland's upcoming EU Presidency. Funded by the European Union and facilitated by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, this vibrant artwork reflects the values shared by both the Scout movement and the European Union, including innovation, preparedness and resilience.

It is a lasting reminder of what can be achieved when young people, artists, and public bodies work in collaboration to create something meaningful that will inspire the community for years to come."
