Temporary Advisory Warning notices placed at Seapoint Beach

Public Notices

Due to the heavy rainfall overnight on Sunday/Monday 16th/17th August 2020 temporary Advisory Warning notices were placed at Seapoint Beach yesterday.  Swimming is advised against for the period Monday 17th August 12:00 until Thursday 20th August 13:00 at this designated bathing area.  This is due to the possibility of an increase in the levels of bacteria found in the bathing water as a result of overflows from the Irish Water wastewater network.  It is likely that these overflows will have an effect on the quality of bathing water during the 3-4 days after the event.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council bathing water team will be liaising with Irish Water to determine the effects of the rainfall event and will carry out a revised risk assessment of potential risks on Thursday.  Updates will be issued here and on dlr social media outlets and information will be posted at each of the designated bathing areas.  Additional testing of bathing waters will be carried out and results will be made available on  It is expected that these results would be available on Thursday 20th August.
