Killiney Beach Enhancement Works Update

In the last few months dlr teams and contractors have been working on an extensive amount of accessibility and usage improvements to the public spaces in and around the main entrance to Killiney Beach. With a focus on maintenance, improved accessibility and improvement visitors will now see a number of changes from Killiney Dart station, through the beach carpark and underpass and along the beachfront.

The work improvement include: new and widened footpaths with accessibility dishing, new surfacing, realigned and improved carparking, additional bike park stands, new signage and digital information board, new planting, as well as accessible access to the beachfront along the lifeguards hut. Two new defibrillator units were installed recently as part of the scheme – one at the carpark near the public toilets and one at the lifeguard station.

At the launch of the new works with Council staff, local residents from Killiney District Community Council, local Councillors and TDs, An Cathaoirleach Lettie McCarthy said:

I’m delighted to see these improvements to the beachfront at Killiney. Always a popular destination, during the period of lockdown it became even more so and increased popularity that has continued through all seasons. The improvements works are a clear demonstration of this Council commitment to continually upgrading the public realm.
