Update 12noon

The fire at Mullins Hill is out but firefighters will on-site throughout the day hitting hotspots and flare ups. We ask that any drone operators do not fly near the scene as this will affect the aerial firefighting.

Update 9am

Firefighters with four pumps are still at Mullins Hill fighting the wildfire that started yesterday evening. Senior officers are directing operations, with an Assistant Chief Fire Officer currently at scene.

A number of residents were evacuated from their properties as a precaution with the assistance of An Garda Síochána.

Support was requested from the Irish Air Corps today and a helicopter with a firefighting bambi bucket is now at the scene.

Wildfires can spread rapidly, cause significant damage to land and property and demand a lot of firefighting resources to extinguish.

Help stop wildfires by:

  • Not lighting camp fires.
  • Not using a barbecue, disposable or re-useable, outside of designated areas.
  • Disposing of smoking materials in a responsible manner.
  • Leave no trace. Please take your litter home.
  • Please report suspicious or anti-social behaviour to An Garda Siochana at the first opportunity.
  • Please park responsibly. Illegal and irresponsible parking can hamper the fire brigade efforts of getting fire appliances to the fire quickly.
