Stationless bike-sharing scheme to operate in Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council

Stationless bike-sharing schemes work by getting users to download an application on their Smart phone. This allows users to become members of the service, to locate the bikes and to unlock nearby bikes by scanning the QR code on each bike using their smart phone. Once you arrive at your destination, you can park at any designated parking location marked on the in App map. This scheme removes the need to develop and construct expensive and often inconvenient docking stations associated with traditional fixed bike share schemes. At the launch of the bike sharing scheme, An Cathaoirleach Cllr Shay Brennan stated, ‘I welcome the issuing of a Bike Share Licence to Bleeperbike and the Council looks forward to developing and expanding the scheme over time. These low cost bike hire schemes will hopefully encourage more people to cycle over short trips, especially those who do not own a bike’.
