Green Flags awarded to six dlr Parks & Deansgrange Cemetery
dlr is delighted to be awarded Green Flags for six parks - Blackrock, Cabinteely, Deerpark, Shanganagh, Marlay and the People’s Park and also for Deansgrange Cemetery.
Frank Curran, Chief Executive of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council said:
“The raising of the Green Flag recognises and rewards the provision of high-quality parks and green spaces and demonstrates the hard work and dedication of our parks staff. It is a great achievement for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council to win this prestigious award for Deansgrange Cemetery and our six award-winning parks.
2022 has proven to be a very successful year for dlr parks throughout the county, but none more so than the six parks that successfully retained their Green Flag status. The commitment to continue to develop and improve the amenities on offer for all sectors of the community and the standard to which the parks are maintained and presented is a great source of pride to all at dlr.
Councillor Mary Hanafin, An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, added:
“All our parks are maintained to the highest standard and the Green Flag awards are an indication of quality and sustainability in design and maintenance of the facilities available to visitors. We are justifiably proud of all of our parks and open spaces across dlr and we will continue to ensure that they are places for people, both young and old, to enjoy.”
dlr are particularly delighted to receive the award for Deansgrange Cemetery, it demonstrates a sustainable management plan for the future of the Cemetery that respects its unique heritage, maximises accessibility and the enhancement of its biodiversity into the future.
