Seapoint Blue Flag

Today, Killiney and Seapoint Beach were awarded a Blue Flag for 2023 and the award was presented to our Cleansing & Beaches staff at a ceremony at Balcarrick Beach, Donabate in County Dublin.

Speaking on the award, Councillor Mary Hanafin, Cathaoirleach, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council said:

The Blue Flag awards for another year confirms that excellent water quality standards have been achieved at Seapoint and Killiney beach. It also demonstrates the continuing commitment of the Council in managing our unique and diverse coastline. I would like to thank and congratulate the dlr Cleansing and Beaches section for their hard work throughout the year.

Peter Buckley, A/Senior Executive Engineer at dlr said:

Our Cleansing & Beaches team are proud that a Blue Flag status award has been granted for both Killiney and Seapoint. Both beaches are very popular with bathers and beach users throughout the summer and it is a great achievement to have obtained the award again this year. We strive to maintain our bathing water sampling regime and to keep our scenic beaches litter free for the public to enjoy.

dlr would like to thank all our lifeguards, and to all the people who have kindly helped with Beach Clean-ups in the past year.
