Today, Killiney and Seapoint Beach were awarded a Blue Flag for 2022 and the award was presented to our Cleansing & Beaches staff at a ceremony at Curracloe Beach in County Wexford.

Speaking on the award, An Cathaoirleach Councillor Lettie McCarthy said

This is a wonderful achievement and will greatly enhance the attractiveness of our local beaches as we come into the Summer months.  I would like to thank and congratulate the dlr Cleansing & Beaches Section on all their hard work and for making this happen’.

Congratulations and well done to all dlr staff involved in the daily cleaning and management of the beaches, water quality sampling and reporting, management of maintenance works and the preparation of the blue flag application.

Peter Buckley, A/Senior Executive Engineer at dlr said:

Obtaining the Blue Flag status once again for Killiney and Seapoint beaches is something that our Cleansing and Beaches team are very proud of.  A lot of work goes on in relation to bathing water sampling and we endeavour to keep our beaches litter free and as safe as possible so that the public can enjoy these scenic beach locations.”

dlr would like to thank all our lifeguards, and to all the people who have kindly helped with Beach Clean-ups in the past year.
