Gorse Fire at Ticknick/Cherrywood

The fire at Cherrywood has come as far as the boundary of Ticknick Park. dlr staff attended a meeting with Dublin Fire Brigade and the neighbouring land owner. The land owner agreed to carry out a series of clearance works including the establishment of a buffer zone between the private lands and Ticknick Park. This buffer zone will be similar to those established in other areas such as Roches/ Mullins Hill and Killiney Hill.

Sports activities cancelled at Ticknick Park, Cherrywood. As a precaution, all football and sports activities are cancelled for the weekend. Dublin Fire Brigade is attending a fire on lands close to the park. We’re closely monitoring the situation and will keep you updated.

The fire currently burning at Ticknick/Cherrywood is located on land adjoining Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council lands. The fire in the affected area is now smouldering and under close observation by Dublin Fire Brigade, who had two trucks on site throughout last night and again today.
As a precaution, access routes beside the fire have been closed, and all football and sports activities in the area have been cancelled for the remainder of the week and upcoming weekend.
