Apply for a Civic Memorial

Civic Memorials

 

The Council often gets requests about putting up Civic Memorials to honour a person, group, or event. We recognise that these memorials are a meaningful way to celebrate, remember, or acknowledge important people or moments from the county’s history. They help connect the past with the present and raise public awareness about what is being commemorated.

If you want to propose a Civic Memorial, you can send your idea to the Heritage Officer at:

Community and Family Memorials

 

The Council also accepts requests for memorial benches or tree plantings in parks, cemeteries, streets, or other public spaces, as long as there is a suitable location available. These are handled according to the rules in the application form.
