Local Environmental Action Fund (LEAF)
The Local Environmental Action Fund (LEAF) is a partnership between IPB Insurance and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council that supports the delivery of community-led projects focused on environmental enhancement, biodiversity and climate action.
Who Can Apply
Tidy Towns and voluntary groups undertaking similar activities (e.g. residents associations)
Groups must be registered with the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Public Participation Network (dlrPPN) and be based in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council administrative area.
Eligible Projects
Projects must focus on climate action, biodiversity and/or environmental enhancement.
Examples of project types include, but are not limited to:
- Biodiversity conservation initiatives (e.g., creating pollinator-friendly spaces)
- Tree planting and urban greening projects
- Energy efficiency installations (e.g., LED lighting in community buildings)
- Waste reduction and recycling initiatives
- Water conservation projects
- Citizen science projects and ecological surveys examining the impacts of climate change
- Public education and awareness campaigns on climate action and sustainability
- Climate resilience measures (e.g., flood prevention projects)
Community Collaboration
Applications should include collaboration with at least one other community group (e.g., local school, youth club, gardening group, Lions club, sports club, men’s/women’s shed, etc.).
How to Apply
Applicants must submit a completed application form through the online portal on/before the closing date of 31 July 2026.
Grant Awards
Projects can be 100% funded by this grant.
Applicants can apply for funding from €1,000 up to a maximum of €25,000.
Partial grant funds may be paid in advance of project delivery where necessary.
