The dlr Community Clean-up scheme supports community groups and volunteers who wish to organise litter picks in their local area. The scheme provides equipment, including litter bags, litter pickers, gloves and high-visibility vests, and facilitates the collections of litter gathered during approved clean-up events.
The scheme is open year-round and is available to community groups, estate management groups, residents’ associations, tidy towns, tidy district groups and schools.

How to collect equipment?
To request equipment under the scheme, please contact our Civic Hub by emailing info@dlrcoco.ie or call 01 2054700. Equipment can be collected directly from either: the Civic Hub in County Hall, Dún Laoghaire or the Dundrum Office.
When collecting equipment, please review the scheme guidelines and safety advice provided. Please note:
- Equipment, including bags, gloves, litter pickers and high-visibility vests, is provided subject to availability and group size requirements.
- Official blue dlr Community Clean-up bags will be registered to the participating community group, school or organisation.
- The collection location and date for filled litter bags must be agreed with the Civic Hub before the clean-up event takes place.
- Litter bags can only be collected from publicly accessible locations.
- Only general street litter placed in official blue dlr Community Clean-up bags can be collected.
- Green waste, leaves and garden waste are not accepted under this scheme.
- Recyclable materials, such as glass bottles and cans, should be taken to a local bring bank and are not collected through this scheme.
How to arrange the litter bag collection?
Before your clean-up event takes place, please contact the Civic Hub to arrange a collection location and date for your filled blue dlr Community Clean-up bags. Collection requests can be made by emailing info@dlrcoco.ie or call 01 2054700.
