Notice – Old Quay Parking Restrictions

The end of the Old Quay in the Coal Harbour is closed off to facilitate a sailing event that will be undertaken within the Harbour. The Old Quay will be used for boat and trailer storage in the build-up and during the event. The end of the Old Quay will be closed off from mid-July to mid-August.

Please note that the Pay and Display tariff in Dún Laoghaire Harbour is €2.00 an hour with a minimum payment of €2.00.

Payment may be made by Credit Card on selected machines.

The times of operation of pay and display are from 0900 to 2000 seven days a week (including Saturdays and Sundays).

Discounted Parking Rates

Discounted Parking Rates are available as follows:

• Old Harbour (West of Crofton Bridge) – €4 per day
• Carlisle Pier Carpark – €5 per day
• Underground Carpark – €2 per hour, €5 per day, €20 per week

Annual Parking Permits

Annual Parking Permits (Valid in designated areas only) are available at €800 for the calendar year.

Notice - Coal Harbour Car Park – Height Restriction Barrier

Dun Laoghaire Harbour Bye Law No 67 states:

No Caravan, mobile home, dormobile or similar vehicle, which is used, or is capable of being used for habitation, shall park or remain within the Harbour, save for vehicles which are in immediate transit to or from a ferry in the Harbour. 

The Coal Harbour Car Park in Dun Laoghaire Harbour is the primary access route into the main Harbour slipway and the Public Boat Yard within Dun Laoghaire Harbour. The slipway is the only access to the water for launching a boat on a trailer between the river Liffey and Bray, Co. Wicklow. The slipway is regularly used by schools, clubs, agencies and members of the public. 

In previous years, this car-park has become popular with Camper Vans and Mobile Homes, to the extent that vehicles towing boats have been unable to access the boatyard or the slipway, particularly at weekends. 

In order to enforce the bye-law and to protect access to the public slipway and the public boat yard for boat users, a Height Restriction barrier has been installed and access can be requested through the Harbour Police if required.
