Seen and Heard

Discover Seen and Heard, a powerful exhibition by the Museum of Childhood Ireland | Músaem Óige na hÉireann exploring the evolution of children’s rights in Ireland—from early laws like the Cáin Adomnáin to the present day. Blending art, history and community voices, the initiative highlights key milestones through imaginative artworks created with children and participants. Engaging and thought‑provoking, the exhibition invites visitors of all ages to reflect, participate and ensure that children’s voices are truly seen, heard and valued. 

Pedals, People & Place: A History of Cycling in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown 

9 July – 16 August, Level 5, dlr LexIcon 

From Victorian leisure cycling, to racing clubs and the birth of Irish mountain biking, this exhibition charts the growth of the sport over time. The initiative includes material from the Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown Archives and new interviews with local cyclists and clubs. At its centre is the Dún Laoghaire Cycling Week collection from the 1950s, showcasing a major race which attracted international competitors. A must see for cycling addicts and history lovers. 

Casimir Markievicz, a Polish Artist in Bohemian Dublin, 1903-13  

7 July – 31 August, Level 4, dlr LexIcon  

The name Markievicz is best known in Ireland through Constance, the revolutionary heroin - but this exhibition turns the spotlight on her husband, Casimir Markievicz (1874–1932). 

A painter, playwright and larger-than-life figure, Casimir was at the heart of Dublin’s artistic scene in the early 1900s, helping to establish key cultural venues and staging plays in theatres like the Abbey and the Gaiety. 

The exhibition also explores connections between Ireland, Poland and Ukraine, and the influence of Polish nationalism on Constance’s political life.
