Event Description
The name Markievicz is best known in Ireland through Constance, the revolutionary heroin - but this exhibition turns the spotlight on her husband, Casimir Markievicz (1874–1932). A painter, playwright and larger-than-life figure, Casimir was at the heart of Dublin’s artistic scene in the early 1900s, helping to establish key cultural venues and staging plays in theatres like the Abbey and the Gaiety. The exhibition also explores connections between Ireland, Poland and Ukraine, and the influence of Polish nationalism on Constance’s political life.
- This exhibition will be held from Tuesday 7 July - Monday 31 August.
- It can be viewed on Level 4 of dlr LexIcon
