Supporting More Women for Local Election in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council in conjunction with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage are funding training with Women for Election to encourage more women to run in the Local Elections 2024.

A report on the issues discussed at our ‘TogetHER in Politics’ conference was noted by the Elected Members at the Council meeting held in July 2023 and is available through this link: 'TogetHER in Politics' Conference Report.

The report along with feedback following the conference highlighted the need for providing a space for women for both networking and training on the different aspects of running for election.

Canvassing Strategies and Door-to-Door Dynamics (Online) 7th March

Maximising Social Media for Local Politicians (Online) 14th March

Local election candidates will benefit from this robust social media training to amplify their campaign reach. This course delves into crafting compelling messages within character limits, harnessing visuals to engage audiences, and navigating platform algorithms. It emphasises authenticity, encouraging genuine interactions with constituents and will focus on consistency in posting schedules to build community engagement and foster trust.. It will help in understanding analytics aids to  refine strategies, maximising impact. Ultimately, this course will equip candidates with tools to harness the power of social media, vital in modern political campaigns.

Managing Your Life while Managing Your Campaign (Online)  21st March

Managing Your Life (While Managing Your Campaign)” is a concise and practical training session designed for local candidates. This session focuses on equipping candidates with effective time management, stress reduction, and self-care strategies, allowing them to balance the demands of a political campaign with their personal lives. Participants will gain practical tips to optimise productivity, maintain well-being, and successfully navigate the challenges of simultaneously running a campaign and managing their personal responsibilities

The training courses are free and are open to prospective candidates, as well as anyone that is supporting women’s Local Election campaigns.
