Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, in partnership with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, funded training delivered by Women for Election to encourage more women to run in the 2024 Local Elections.
The report summarising discussions at our “TogetHER in Politics” conference, held in the Royal Marine Hotel in Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin on Saturday, 20th May 2023, along with participant feedback, highlighted the need to create spaces for women to network and access training on the various aspects of running for election.
Training Delivered
As part of this initiative, DLRCC, in collaboration with Women for Election, ran the following courses:
- Canvassing Strategies and Door-to-Door Dynamics
- Maximising Social Media for Local Politicians
- Managing Your Life While Managing Your Campaign
Looking Ahead to the 2029 Local Elections
Preparations for the 2029 Local Elections will begin in 2027. Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council will engage with Women for Election to design and deliver a tailored training programme for women who wish to run in the 2029 Elections. This initiative will build on previous successful collaborations and continue our commitment to increasing women’s participation in local politics.
