We're hiring a Decarbonising Zone Climate Action Officer

Join us and help drive climate action at a local level. This exciting three-year contract role will support the delivery of the Dún Laoghaire and Blackrock Decarbonising Zone, helping to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency and support the transition to a more sustainable future. Working with communities, businesses, public bodies and other stakeholders, you will play a key role in delivering climate action projects and initiatives across the county.

What is a Decarbonising Zone Climate Action Officer?

A Decarbonising Zone Climate Action Officer works as part of our Climate Action Team to help deliver the objectives of the Decarbonising Zone Action and Implementation Plan. The role focuses on developing and managing climate action projects, building partnerships with communities and stakeholders, identifying funding opportunities, supporting behavioural change initiatives and promoting sustainable practices. The successful candidate will help coordinate projects across the residential, commercial, public and transport sectors, contributing to local and national climate action goals.

We are looking for someone with:

• A relevant degree qualification and significant experience in climate action, sustainability, renewable energy, environmental management or a related field.
• Strong project management skills, with experience delivering multiple projects to successful outcomes.
• Knowledge of climate change adaptation and mitigation, climate policy and emission reduction initiatives.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Experience working with communities, businesses, public bodies and other key stakeholders.
• Strong report writing, presentation and IT skills.
• Experience identifying funding opportunities and supporting project delivery.
• An understanding of local government services and climate action priorities.
• A full Category B driving licence valid in Ireland.
