Upcoming Projects

Marlay Sports Hub

Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council is progressing proposals to upgrade Marlay Park to support a broad range of sporting and active recreational uses, in line with the Marlay Park Masterplan 2018.

The project seeks to consolidate existing and new sports facilities in the vicinity of the College Road entrance, as identified in the masterplan, to ensure this important public amenity continues to meet the needs of a growing local population.

The project is currently at preliminary design stage. A range of options is being assessed for suitability, alongside ongoing internal and external stakeholder engagement. Facilities under consideration include upgrades to the existing allweather pitch, the provision of padel and tennis courts, a skills wall, a warmup area, and a multiuse building to support these amenities.

The project also aims to incorporate Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS), where appropriate, to manage additional surface water runoff. This approach will help reduce pressure on the county’s surface water drainage network while enhancing biodiversity within the park.

In addition, the proposals are exploring options to reconfigure the existing College Road park entrance, together with minor modifications to the adjacent car park. These measures are intended to improve pedestrian accessibility, enhance safety, and improve the overall experience for park users.
