Upcoming Projects

Marlay Cricket

Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council is progressing plans to develop a cricket outfield and associated amenities, alongside the rationalisation of the model railway line at Marlay Park, in partnership with local clubs and user groups. The project aims to improve the functionality and accessibility of this area while supporting a range of recreational activities.

The existing cricket field is currently subject to seasonal disruption due to concerts, which can impact its condition and usability. In addition, public access within the model railway area is limited.

Proposals under consideration include the delivery of a high-quality cricket field and supporting facilities, as well as the retention and enhancement of the existing model railway in collaboration with the Dublin Society of Model and Experimental Engineers. The project also seeks to ensure that both uses can operate successfully within the same area.

In addition, the project will aim to improve public access by reducing barriers, reviewing parking arrangements, and providing enhanced pedestrian pathways. All proposals will be developed with careful consideration of the site’s ecology, incorporating off-setting measures such as tree planting and nature-based solutions.

The project is currently at tender stage, with the appointment of a main contractor for the works planned for Q2 2026.
