Report stockpiling in advance of Halloween

Public Consultation
Public Notices

We would like to appeal to residents and businesses alike for their assistance in ensuring this Halloween is safe and enjoyable for everybody.

Leading up to Halloween, the Council’s environmental enforcement wardens, cleansing and parks staff are vigilant in keeping an eye out for stockpiled bonfire material. The Council endeavours to collect this waste where possible. This may be dependent on the safety of our staff, as in some situations, Garda assistance may be required. Their availability can have an impact on whether we can remove the materials.

The uncontrolled burning of waste in a bonfire is an illegal, costly and dangerous practice. The Council would like to appeal to residents to be vigilant and report any stockpiling of waste. Please note that allowing unpermitted waste collectors to remove waste is an offence and could incur a fine of up to €5,000. Any materials that are likely to be taken and used for bonfires should be stored safely and securely, or disposed of correctly, prior to Halloween.

The public are encouraged to report stockpiling or smouldering bins to the Council by calling 1800 403 503 or 01 6778844 after hours / weekends or use our report it page. You can also email info@dlrcoco.ie.

The public can report this anonymously and the more information that the public can provide, such as addresses, source of waste, vehicle registrations involved helps the Council to tackle bonfires in the County.
