Outdoor Dining Supports from DLR
Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council is working to support businesses to operate safely and to expand their outdoor dining facilities in advance of an anticipated summer of outdoor dining. Our priority is to implement measures that support businesses, such as cafés and restaurants, to re-open in a manner where everyone can safely enjoy our streets as restrictions are gradually reduced.
A number of measures are available to businesses in the county:
Street Furniture Licence – Businesses can apply, free of charge, for a Street Furniture Licence. Applications for the Licence, which allows businesses to place tables and chairs in public spaces, subject to public safety considerations, can be made here.
Outdoor Dining Scheme - The Outdoor Dining Scheme, supported by Fáilte Ireland, provides 75% funding of up to €4,000 towards the cost of outdoor furniture and equipment.
The grant is available to individual tourism and hospitality businesses to develop and increase their own outdoor dining capacity whether on private premises or in the public realm. Applications can be made here.
Public Realm - Request for Reallocation of Space – Businesses seeking to expand their outdoor seating can make a request for the reallocation of public space via this online form: https://dlrcoco.citizenspace.com/finance/public-realm-request-for-reallocation/. Requests can be made for the Council to assess existing public car parking spaces, squares/plazas, etc. for their suitability for reallocation to outdoor dining areas.
