The vision for the Local Area Plan lands includes delivering on the ten minute neighborhood concept, ensuring provision of community, civic and cultural facilities, ensuring a good mix of homes within the plan area and respecting the existing character, scale and heritage of Dundrum.

A key element of the draft plan is managing future population increase in the plan lands by sustainable transport means such as walking, cycling and use of public transport. An Area Based Transport Assessment or ABTA has informed the Local Area Plan.

Mr. Frank Curran, Chief Executive highlighted that:

“The Draft LAP sets out a framework for development for a number of strategic regeneration sites including the old Dundrum Shopping Centre site and also sets out policies and objectives for future development within the overall plan area”.

Councillor Mary Hanafin, Cathaoirleach, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council said:

"I urge members of the public, particularly those living within the Local Area Plan boundary, to make a submission and make sure their views feed into the important democratic Local Area Plan making process.”

The draft Plan will be on public display both online and in Council Offices at Dundrum and Dún Laoghaire and will be available to view in all dlr libraries for a 6 week period until Friday 21st of July 2023.  Further details of public consultation events in relation to the Local Area Plan can be found here.
