Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has allocated €5 million of funding to carry out essential repairs on specific roads and footpaths across the County in 2024. The schemes that will be completed are listed in the Road Maintenance Works Programme 2024-2026. The funding is in addition to the day-to-day road and footway repairs that are essential for the ongoing maintenance of the road network. As well as road and footpath scheme, funding has been allocated for gully repairs, cycle track maintenance, accessibility works, and bridge inspections/repairs.

Cllr Denis O’Callaghan, Cathaoirleach, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council welcomed the roads programme and stated;

‘This ambitious programme will help provide focus on roads and footpaths that are most in need of repair to help build resilience in the road network.  With 823km of road and 1400km of footpaths in the County to maintain, this programme is essential to prevent road surfaces and footpaths deteriorating, preventing the need for more longer-term costly repairs.”

Funding has also been allocated for the Glenageary Road Upper Active Travel Scheme by the National Transport Authority (NTA) and for the final phase of the N11 resurfacing scheme by Transport Infrastructure Ireland.  Among the routes being improved are parts of Grove Avenue, Dalkey Avenue, Brennanstown Road, Enniskerry Road and Village Road.

We are also responsible for 130 bridges in parks and on roads around the County with maintenance and engineering inspections currently being carried out to assess if any repair works are required.
