Carrickmines Shanganagh FRS Public Engagement Event

General News

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and the OPW are commencing an online Public Engagement Event for the Carrickmines Shanganagh Flood Relief Scheme.   This project has commenced and we are hoping you can assist us with information.

There is a history of flooding in key areas in the catchment of the Carrickmines Shanganagh rivers. These areas include Commons Road, parts of Brides Glen Road, the N11 adjacent to Cherrywood, Glenamuck Road North and Kilgobbin. The ECFRAMS study identified parts of this catchment as being high-risk flood areas and the OPW is now funding the detailed design and construction of necessary flood alleviation measures.

We have already made progress on the project. Key constraints and environmental factors have been identified. Topographical data and river flow information have been gathered. A detailed river model has been created.

We now want to hear what your experience of flooding has been and what comments you may have. This information will help us design and choose the flood alleviation measures. Once we have decided on our proposed measures, we will present them to you for your views.

For the online event, there is a presentation available to view.  This gives an overview of the project and work done to date. If you have any information including videos, photos or personal experience of flooding in the area or any comments on the scheme, let us know. We have a questionnaire you can fill out to gather this information. You may leave your details so we can keep you updated by email. The link to the Public Engagement Event is here
