A status yellow rainfall weather warning has been issued by Met Éireann, valid from 21:00 tonight Monday 24th August until 21:00 on Tuesday 25th August, with accumulations of 30 to 50mm predicted.

This is likely to result in overflows from the Irish Water wastewater network resulting in poor water quality at Seapoint Beach and Killiney Beach, during the 2-3 days after the event.  Prior Warning notices are being posted at these designated bathing areas.  Swimming is advised against for the period Monday 24th August 21:00 to Friday 28th August 21:00.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council bathing water team will be liaising with Irish Water to determine the effects of the rainfall event and will carry out a revised risk assessment of potential risks on Friday. Updates will be issued here and on dlr social media outlets and information will be posted at each of the designated bathing areas.  Additional testing of bathing waters will be carried out, if required, and results will be made available on www.beaches.ie.  It is expected that these results would be available on Friday August 28th .
