A total of €36,800 in funding has been awarded to local schools, educators and not-for-profit groups under the Community Environment Action Fund (Local Agenda 21) 2019 to 2020.

Twenty-nine projects will be supported under this 2019 to 2020 scheme. Each of these local initiatives complements, at a local level, sustainable policies to prevent waste, tackle climate breakdown and enhance biodiversity. A wide variety of projects will be supported including school gardens, waste prevention, compost schemes, educational initiatives and biodiversity projects.

The Community Environment Action Fund assists sustainable development from the ground-up and facilitates, at local level, the achievement of the objectives of the Agenda 21 action plan on sustainable development which was agreed at the UN Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, in 1992 (the "Earth Summit").

The Community Environment Action Fund is jointly funded by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment.
