No swimming at Sandycove Beach

Update 20/6/22 - Bathing Prohibition notices have been removed from Sandycove Beach.
We are advising the public at this time not to swim at Sandycove Beach as there were elevated bacteria levels detected there following the receipt of water samples that were taken on the 15th of June.
After consulting with the HSE, we have erected Bathing Prohibition notices at Sandycove Beach on the 15th of June. These notices will be in place for 4 days.
As storm overflows did not occur on the network we surmise that the elevated bacterial levels may be due to contamination from animals/birds.
We are re-sampling at Sandycove and will update you on any further developments.
