Spring into Heritage 2026
Discover the stories of our area during Spring into Heritage, with a programme of free guided tours and talks.
There will be three talks in April by local historian, Rob Goodbody, exploring what Shankill was like in 1837, the early buildings of Dún Laoghaire, and some surprising insights into the 20th century revolutionary and politician, Frank Aiken, who gave his name to Aiken’s Village in Sandyford.
The doors open for guided visits of Marlay House, Cabinteely House, County Hall and the Oratory in Dún Laoghaire. Enjoy the fresh spring air of the Dublin Mountains foothills with a walking tour of Fernhill Park and Gardens.
During the Spring programme, Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre and the National Maritime Museum offer free weekly Spring into Heritage tours, their websites have all the details.
This year, to celebrate the centenary of the birth of local writer, Hugh Leonard, the programme includes two immersive literary walking tours in Dalkey which include performances of extracts from his work.
