The Domestic in Poetry with Shauna Gilligan

Using lines or elements of poetry and prose as prompts, as well as real life objects including baking utensils and found objects as inspiration, participants will be guided through writing exercises in an exploration of memories of home and the objects which evoke them, looking at meaning and the extraordinary in the everyday domestic. Participants can work on poetry or prose, or explore both.
Shauna Gilligan, writer and educator, has received numerous awards for her writing including the Cecil Day Lewis Literary Bursary for Literature and the Irish Writers’ Centre/Tyrone Guthrie Centre Jack Harte Bursary (2025). She co-edited the anthology of prose, poetry and visual art, Fire: Brigid and The Sacred Feminine (Arlen House: Dublin, 2024) with Niamh Boyce.
