Event Description

Come along to dlr LexIcon on 6 June for a series of author led workshops from 12.00 – 4.30pm. Aspiring young writers will have the opportunity to work with bestselling authors as they explore storytelling, creativity and more.

Kevin Moran: Writing Workshop

Join bestselling author Kevin Moran to learn all about the inspiration behind his fantasy horror series, The Doomsday Club. Kevin will be inviting attendees to create their own Doomsday Club story.

Kevin Moran is a bestselling children’s author and primary school teacher from Mayo. The Doomsday Club: Shape-Shifters was a bestselling World Book Day 2026 title and The Doomsday Club: Bog Bodies is set to launch in October 2026. When not writing, he can often be found on the beach near his home in Dublin, being walked by his surprisingly strong golden retriever.

Places are limited and will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

Time: 12.00 – 1.00pm

Ages: 8+

Johnathan Sung: Drawing and Animation Workshop

Explore the art of character design and storytelling to discover how simple ideas grow into fully realised characters for the page.

In this fun and engaging workshop, illustrator Johnathan Sung will show young artists how to create their own unique characters—from first ideas and quick sketches to expressive faces, personalities, and storytelling details. Along the way, participants will discover how small design choices can make a big difference in bringing a character.

Through demonstration, discussion and drawing children will be encouraged to explore their creativity, build confidence, and develop their own character ideas in a relaxed and supportive setting. No previous drawing experience is needed—just imagination and curiosity!

Perfect for ages 9+, this workshop supports creativity, storytelling, and visual thinking in a fun, welcoming environment.

Places are limited and will be filled on a first come first serve basis.
