We’re Hiring: IS Technical Officers

Join our IT team and help us deliver modern, secure and high‑quality digital services for Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown. Our work supports the wellbeing of 233,000 residents, and as an IS Technical Officer you will play a key role in supporting, maintaining and enhancing the technologies that keep essential public services running smoothly across the county.

 

What is an IS Technical Officer?

An IS Technical Officer provides technical support across the Council’s ICT infrastructure, helping to ensure that our systems, networks, devices and applications operate reliably and securely. The role involves hands‑on troubleshooting, supporting PCs, servers, networks and software, assisting with new IT system deployments, contributing to project teams, and helping maintain core systems such as virtualisation platforms, databases, web applications and GIS.

This is a dynamic, varied role that supports critical ICT operations. IS Technical Officers collaborate across departments, respond to technical issues, assist with the rollout of new technologies, and contribute to the delivery of resilient, user‑focused digital services.

 

We are looking for someone with:

  • A recognised qualification in a computing discipline and relevant experience
  • A strong practical ICT skillset, including experience in technical support, hardware/software installation, network troubleshooting, virtualisation, Microsoft technologies, database support, and cyber security
  • Understanding of IT architecture, systems development and service delivery
  • A logical, analytical approach to problem‑solving with the ability to remain up to date on IT trends and developments
  • Knowledge of IT security standards, ITIL, and public‑sector ICT guidelines and practices.
