We’re Hiring: Staff Officer – Library Service
Join our Library Team and play a key role in delivering high-quality services across dlr libraries, supporting the day-to-day operations of library services, assisting customers, co-ordinating activities, and contributing to ensuring that dlr libraries are accessible, inclusive and enjoyable spaces for all.
What is a Staff Officer – Library Service?
A Staff Officer is a front-line supervisory role within the Library Service, responsible for overseeing the performance and delivery of a service area. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the role involves supporting the implementation of work programmes and ensuring targets set out in departmental and team plans are achieved. The position requires strong organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to use initiative and work to a high professional standard. Staff Officers play an important role in ensuring excellent customer service and the smooth operation of library services.
We are looking for someone who:
• Meets the minimum educational/experience requirements as outlined in the particulars of the post
• Has a good understanding of local government and the role of library services
• Is committed to delivering high-quality, customer-focused public services
• Has strong organisational, administrative and ICT skills, including report writing and finance awareness
• Can support, motivate and work effectively with a team
• Demonstrates strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Shows initiative and is open to new ways of working while maintaining high governance and standards
