We’re Hiring: Resident Engineer
Join our Infrastructure Implementation Team and play a key role in delivering major capital projects across dlr. As part of this team, you will contribute to the construction and supervision of a wide range of infrastructure schemes, including active travel, public realm and climate projects that will shape the future of the county.
This role is offered on a 3-year specific purpose contract, and you may be assigned to work across multiple projects at different stages, supporting delivery from pre-construction through to completion and handover.
What is a Resident Engineer?
A Resident Engineer is a senior technical professional responsible for overseeing the day-to-day delivery of multiple construction projects running concurrently across dlr. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the role involves supervising works, ensuring quality and compliance, coordinating stakeholders and supporting the successful delivery of multiple infrastructure schemes. Resident Engineers play a critical role in delivering safe, sustainable and high-quality public infrastructure, while managing contracts, budgets and programme timelines to a high professional standard.
We are looking for someone who:
• Holds a relevant engineering qualification (Level 7 or higher on the NFQ) with at least five years’ relevant experience
• Has strong experience in the delivery of civil engineering or infrastructure projects, including contract administration and site supervision
• Is highly organised with excellent project management, reporting and IT skills
• Demonstrates strong knowledge of construction processes, health & safety, and quality control standards
• Has experience working with stakeholders, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
• Is a strong communicator with the ability to problem-solve, make decisions and manage competing priorities
• Is adaptable, proactive and committed to delivering high-quality public infrastructure projects
