We’re Hiring: Park Rangers
Join our Parks Team and help us maintain, protect and enhance the beautiful public parks, gardens and open spaces across Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown. Our work supports the wellbeing of 233,000 residents, and as a Gardener you will play a key role in keeping our county green, vibrant and welcoming for everyone.
What is a Park Ranger?
A Gardener plays a key role in maintaining and protecting the county’s parks, green spaces and publc amenities, ensuring that they are safe, welcoming and well-managed for all users. The role involves practical outdoor work, engagement with the public, supporting biodiversity and climate action goals, and contributing to the smooth running of park operations. Rangers also act as an on‑the‑ground presence for the Council, assisting with issues, providing information, and supporting the delivery of high‑quality public services.
We are looking for someone with:
- A Junior Certificate / Intermediate Certificate (or equivalent) and a full driving licence
- Experience in horticulture, landscaping, arboriculture or ecology
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work with colleagues, contractors and the public
- Strong customer awareness and a positive customer service attitude
- A commitment to high health and safety standards and the ability to keep accurate written and electronic records of work
- A commitment to high standards of health and safety and quality public service.
