We’re Hiring: Integration Support Worker
Join our Local Authority Integration Team and help provide practical, ongoing support to International Protection applicants, Programme Refugees, and Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection to enable them to settle into the community and live independently.
What is an Integration Support Worker?
As an Integration Support Worker is a middle management role with responsibility for day‑to‑day administration and management and leading and supporting a team. In this role you will:
- Provide information, guidance, advice and practical support to individuals and families as they navigate life in the community
- Act as a first point of contact, responding to queries and ensuring people are connected to the services they need
- Link clients with local service providers, community groups and non‑governmental organisations appropriate to their needs
- Support access to employment, English language learning, childcare, healthcare and wider community, sporting and social activities
- Work closely with the Integration Support Coordinator to support the delivery of integration services
- Engage with the Irish Refugee Protection Programme during resettlement periods, including referrals under grant‑funded integration projects
- Act as a key liaison with other Council sections and departments on operational matters
We are looking for someone with:
- 3+ years’ experience working in a similar role with diverse groups in a community development setting
- experience providing individual support and outreach and of working collaboratively with external agencies and organisations
- a good understanding of Ireland’s mainstream model of integration and the policies which govern Ireland’s International Protection system, Irish Refugee Protection programme and Temporary Protection programme
- a good knowledge of the youth sector and the ability to connect International Protection applicants, Programme Refugees and Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection with appropriate support services
- a strong understanding of cultural diversity and the ability to adapt their approach to embrace and work effectively with people from a wide range of nationalities and cultures
- a thorough knowledge of community development principles and processes with expertise in a broad range of development models, particularly those appropriate to minority ethnic groups
- a clean, current Class B Driving Licence that enables them to permanently drive in Ireland.
