We’re Hiring: Gardeners

 Join our Parks & Landscaping Team and help us maintain, protect and enhance the beautiful public parks, gardens and open spaces across Dún Laoghaire‑Rathdown. Our work supports the wellbeing of 233,000 residents, and as a Gardener you will play a key role in keeping our county green, vibrant and welcoming for everyone.

 

What is a Gardener?

A Gardener plays a key role in creating and maintaining high‑quality outdoor environments for the community. The role involves planting, cultivating and caring for plants, maintaining parks and gardens, operating horticultural machinery, supporting landscape projects, and ensuring safe, well‑kept public spaces. Gardeners also supervise staff when required and contribute to the upkeep of facilities across the county.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A recognised horticultural qualification such as the National Diploma in Horticulture (or equivalent) and a full Irish driving licence.
  • Experience in plant cultivation, amenity horticulture, and maintaining parks or gardens.
  • The ability to use and maintain horticultural tools, machinery and equipment safely.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work with colleagues, contractors and the public.
  • Strong initiative, good judgement, and the ability to keep accurate written and electronic records of work.
  • A commitment to high standards of health and safety and quality public service.
