Overview

We’re Hiring: Chargehand Mechanic
Join our Fleet team and play a key role in maintaining essential Council vehicles and equipment.

Desirable skills and experience include:
• Full clean Class C licence (training to Class C and CE provided within first 24 months)
• Safe Pass (training provided if needed)
• Experience with agri‑sector plant and machinery
• Skills in hydraulics, pneumatics and auto‑electrics
• Proficiency in welding
• Comfortable using IT systems (Excel, Word, smart devices)
• Experience with electric vehicles is an advantage

We’re looking for someone with strong technical ability, great communication skills and the capacity to work well as part of a team.

Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application form:

  • Have a reasonable standard of education sufficient to enable them to perform the job efficiently and effectively;
  • Hold a QQI (FETAC) Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft (Motor Mechanics) or equivalent recognised qualification and have completed a recognised apprenticeship in Motor Mechanics and be a fully qualified craftsperson;
  • After obtaining qualifications, candidates should have satisfactory Motor Mechanics experience;
  • Hold a full unendorsed driving licence (Category B or equivalent) that permits permanent driving in Ireland and
  • Hold a valid work permit if required
