Join our Admin Team and play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality services across the organisation. Depending on where vacancies arise, you may be assigned to any of our departments, including Planning, Housing, Corporate Services, Infrastructure & Climate Change, Community, among others.

 

What is an Assistant Staff Officer?

An Assistant Staff Officer is an entry‑level middle‑management role within the Council. People in this position work as active members of a team and may supervise staff, allocate work and provide one‑to‑one support or training to junior colleagues. They often work in frontline customer‑service roles and are expected to be confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Strong clerical and administrative experience
  • A dedication to high customer care standards
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to supervise staff and support team performance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence with ICT systems.
