dlr Cruinniú na nÓg 2022

Ireland is the first country in the world to have a national day of free creativity for children and young people under 18. Cruinniú na nÓg is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme’s Creative Youth Plan to enable the creative potential of children and young people. The inaugural Cruinniú na nÓg took place on 23rd June 2018.

In 2022 to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg dlr Arts Office in partnership with dlr CYPSC awarded the following commission; 

‘Small Wonders’ is a new child-centred multisensory creative experience for and with children from 1-2 years and their caregivers. Artists Niamh Lawlor, George Higgs, Sarah Fitzgibbon and Orla Kelly are collaborating with children from the First Friends Service and supported by dlr CYPSC and Barnardos. Through meetings, creative active research, play sessions, devising, independent and group work, interdisciplinary opportunities that reflect and inspire the children’s poetic curiosity and wonderings through music, puppetry and immersive space will take place. Ending in free creative experiences for the general public on Cruinniú na Óg 2022.
