Join Gavin Harte (Sustainability Consultant, Climate Action Coach and Environmental Activist) for this interactive training workshop will discuss items such as climate science, carbon footprints, energy saving, home energy upgrades etc. in the Assembly Hall, County Hall, Dún Laoghaire followed by bus trip and guided tour of Fernhill Park, Enniskerry Road with dlr County Council Senior Parks Superintendent, Ruairí Ó Dulaing.

Fernhill Park and Gardens is Dún Laoghaire’s newest Public Park, dating back to around 1823. The former estate is a unique collection of heritage buildings, gardens, parkland, woodland and agricultural land. Fernhill Park has a focus on environmentally sustainable practices in all aspects of the design, construction and day to day operation of the park including garden management (fruit and vegetables); water supply; waste water management; energy efficiency and renewable energy supply; ‘green’ transport; smart communications and accessibility, which will be discussed on the tour. Fernhill is also home to a unique plant collection and Droimeann Cattle onsite for biodiversity conservation of the Fernhill Meadows.

Timetable: 

From 9.45a.m: Tea, Coffee & Scones in Assembly Hall, Level 2, County Hall, Dún Laoghaire

10a.m: Climate Action Training workshops with Gavin Harte with break during session

12.45 - Light lunch served in the Assembly Hall

1.30p.m - Free Dublin bus, Accessible Hybrid Bus to Fernhill leaving from outside Dún Laoghaire DART Station – designated Dublin Bus, Bus Stop at 1.30p.m, Crofton Road – opposite County Hall

2.00p.m: Arrival at Fernhill Park and tour with Ruairí Ó Dulaing, Senior Parks Superintendent

3.30p.m: Depart Fernhill Park parking area and returning to Crofton Road, opposite County Hall, Dún Laoghaire for 4p.m.
