Intro Text

As part of the ongoing environmental management and improvement of Marlay lake and to take into account the appropriate ecological seasons for any  works on the lake, DLR Parks Section will be carrying out silt removal over the coming weeks. There will also be some removal of Canadian Pond Weed (Elodea canadensis) an invasive species.

The methodologies being used have been carefully considered so that the works are carried out in an environmentally sensitive way and also to ensure best practice is followed. The works will be overseen by our Environmental Consultants. These works will be carried out in consultation with Inland Fisheries Ireland, NPWS and DLR's Biodiversity Officer.

The path immediately south of the pond will be closed for the duration of the works (including weekends) and we apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. A section of the meadow field will remain closed off for a further period until the silt has dried out.
