Intro Text

On Saturday 28th April at The Step Inn in Stepaside Village, County Dublin, Stars of Erin GAA will be turning the tide on single-use plastic. Over the course of the next few months, a core team from the club consisting mainly of teenage members, will drive a campaign to highlight the harmful effects of plastic pollution and its impacts on communities locally and globally, and to make their GAA Club the first in Ireland to be free of single use plastic.

The Stars of Erin are currently developing their own Plastic Free Policy for presentation to the club’s Executive Committee. No single-use plastic or straws will be available at the club once the new Club Shop opens in May. The clubhouse kitchen and other public areas are also starting the transition to plastic-free packaging, and as a club they will actively encourage other clubs to embrace this positive social change against the fight on plastic.
