The awards ceremony for the “Safer Roads for Dublin” primary school art competition took place on Friday 11th December 2015 in County Hall Dún Laoghaire. Children were asked to “Draw How Santa Stays Safe at Christmas”.

The competition was open to all primary school students in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and the winners, along with their families and friends were invited to attend the awards ceremony.  Certificates of Achievement were presented by An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Councillor Barry Saul, together with a Gift Voucher for both themselves and for their Class.

The successful entries were from:-

E. Mai, Our Lady’s Clonskeagh Parish National School.

C. Moran, Benicasa Special School, Blackrock, Co. Dublin.

G. Lambert, Harold’s Boys National School, Dalkey.

The competition and the ceremony would not have been possible without the collaboration of all the stakeholders - Dublin Bus, An Garda Síochána, Dublin Fire Brigade and the HSE Ambulance Service.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, An Cathaoirleach said: “This art competition is a great way for students to increase awareness about road safety and to focus on the importance of enhancing visibility during the long dark winter mornings and evenings.”
