Gallery Learning Programme - Online
An online Gallery Learning Programme is available this Winter to make sure that everyone can still have lots of opportunites to get creative at home. The programme is jam packed full of live talks, conversations, demonstrations and art making workshops. The emphasis is on learning together as we all try out new things this Winter. Give it a go, no experience necessary. Keep an eye on this page and our social media for updates!
Storytime by the Fire with your Teddy
Thursday 3 December, 3.30-5pm, suitable for young chlildren/families with an adult to help
Free but booking required.
Join children's writer Lucinda Jacob for an afternoon of storytelling by the fire. This is an online event.
Where has your teddy been? Where would it like to go? Tell the story with Lucinda, bring your favourite soft toy and join in the fun!

Christmas Crafts Workshop for Adults
Saturday 12 December 11.30am-1pm - Online
Cost €8 - materials will be sent to your home in advance.
Join artist Tunde Toth and make some beautiful handmade decorations for Christmas.
Create your striking Christmas stars with Tunde in this online silk fibre making workshop. Using pure, raw silk fibres with metallic materials and fabric dyes, participants will learn this contemporary making process and will make two silk stars - a truely unique homemade decoration for Christmas.

Are you living with dementia or would you like to try something different with your loved one living with dementia? While you can't come and visit us in the Gallery at the moment, Julie, Claire and Orla have adapted our tours to an online experience that we hope you will enjoy.
Explore and discuss a selection of artworks from our County Collection in these specially created online tours that you can easily enjoy at home using a mobile phone, tablet or computer.
There will also be time as usual for a cup of tea at the end of the discussion to enjoy with everyone from the comfort of your armchair.
These tours are funded by the HSE/dlr Arts and Health Partnership and supported by the Azure Network.

We are delighted to offer a wonderful selection of online cultural activities for all care settings in the County for Winter 2020.From dancing, storytelling, singing to art workshops there’s plenty for everyone to join in and enjoy!All workshops are available online and free of charge to Nursing Homes from November 2020 until February 2021.
Cuairt agus Cultúr is a cultural programme run by Dún Laoghaire- Rathdown County Council Libraries and Arts Office in Residential Care Settings for Older People in the County.

Musician in Residence - Kevin Brady - the Tommy Halferty Trio
Drummer and percussionist Kevin Brady will be Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s Musician-in-Residence during September and October.
During his two-month Residency, Kevin Brady and the other members of the Tommy Halferty Trio will explore and compose music influenced by Música instrumental Brasileira (Brazilian instrumental music). This style refers to jazz and other forms of instrumental music inspired by great Brazilian composers such as Hermeto Pascoal, Antônio Carlos Jobim and Antonio Adolfo. Tudo E Som (Everything is Sound), the new programme of music that will be developed by the trio during the Residency, will celebrate the diversity of culture in Ireland today and a performance will be showcased online.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Music Network presented the online world premiere performance of Dún Laoghaire Guitars, a new composition by Dave Flynn, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown (dlr) Musician-in-Residence 2020. Dave will be joined by students from the Guitar Training Centre in Dún Laoghaire for a performance of his new work on Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Music Network’s social channels on Thursday 20 August.

Arts and the Community
dlr Arts Office works with the local community in many different ways. From developing work for early years children to managing one of the longest running artists in schools programmes in the country. We work with lots of different community groups and organisations at both local and national level to ensure that people of all ages in the County get the opportunity to experience the arts.
