August 2021 Update: Due to the restrictions in place during the COVID19 pandemic the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC) has extended the completion date for projects of the 2019 Community Environment Action Fund from August 2020 to the end of December 2021. DECC are currently examining the feasability of the scheme taking into consideration the current public health guidelines and restrictions. It is expected that applications for the next Community Environment Action Fund will be delayed until 2022.

The Community Environment Action Fund, (previously known as the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund or LA21), promotes sustainable development at a local level by funding small scale, non-profit environmental projects, that make a significant difference in local communities. The scheme was launched by Mr. Richard Bruton, T.D., Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment on Wednesday, 21st August 2019.

Eligible projects support and complement national environmental policies such as those on Waste, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Air, Water and Sustainable Development.

The 2019 / 2020 Community Environment Action Fund (Local Agenda 21) has now closed.
