Animal Tracking in Fitzsimons Wood
Everyone knows that to track an animal your follow the footprints. But come along to this family event and learn the secrets of a good tracker. It’s all in the natural navigation, reading the land ahead, using the senses and being patient. A fun event for the whole family whereby we hope to make Foot track moulds for everyone to take home.

Twig ID - Who is that Tree? takes place at Royal Terrace Park
Come join Red Squirrel for a walk around Royal Terrace Park. We will find out how to name a tree by looking at is twigs and buds...... 'like the horse chestnut with its sticky buds' . Come bring the family on a stroll on this Spring day at the start of Tree Week and lets find out together what is in you local park.

DLR Rockpooling for families at Sandycove Beach
Come along and take part in discovering life that live within the rock pools. Starfish, crabs, who know what we’ll find. Bring along any nets or buckets you have to get up close and personal with sea life. This event is for the whole family.

DLR Easter Egg Hunt in Ballawley Park
Come along and for this fun event based on biodiversity and signs of Spring as we stroll around the park find in search of the broken pieces of the rainbow. There will be animal behaviour games, such as hide and seek, tag and catch the ‘mouse’ Then at the end with the pieces of rainbow all collected, all the children will receive a reward, an Easter Egg. A family event for young children.

Otter Tracking on the Shanganagh River
Meet at Shanganagh Playground
Join our otter specialist on a walk along the river to find out how to spot otter tracks and signs. Learn all about how otter use the river and their diet along and see what other biodiversity lives in our river including water creatures and water plants. ;Let’s see if anyone spots an otter !!! A family event for the whole family.

Join us for a walk around Fernhill at dusk with the Dublin Bat Group. We will learn about the different type of bats, what they eat and where they live. So much for all the family to learn about these really important species.

Pollinators discovery for families at Fernhill Park and Gardens
A fun event for those that want to discover more about Pollinators . How they survive, crawl, fly, wiggle and scuttle. Come along and learn about creatures smaller than a 1cent coin then take the brave test and let your friends photograph you as you hold one of our six legged friends on your hand. Are you daring to hold a spider.!
A fun event for children that like pollinators and insects and would like to learn more about them, their conservation and their impact through biodiversity.

Life in a Pond – A family Pond dipping event in Kilbogget Park
Come along to this family event and join us as we explore life living in the pond, whilst looking at water as an ecosystem and the benefits we get from them. Using nets and buckets we hope to find water scorpions, water beetles, tadpoles and many more interesting pond creatures. A family fun nature exploration event.

Tern watching takes place from Coliemore Harbour Viewing Area. This will be with assistance from the volunteer members of the South Branch of Birdwatch Ireland.

War of the Beach Sculptures on Killiney Beach
Come along and join up with a team before setting off along the beach in search of unusal items to make a beach scupture/monster. Legs, arms, webbing, let the imagination can go wild. The winning team wins the bragging rights of being the best beach scupture team of 2020. The winning team also wins the sweets. A fun event for the family the looks at issues along our beaches of of climate change, waste and biodiversity.

Teddy Bears Picnic and woodland craft in Cabinteely Park
Bring along your favourite teddy and join the owl leaders as they take a stroll through the wood looking at biodiversity, whilst collecting natural material fallen to the ground. Then finding a sunny clearing we’ll sit for a picnic and a story about the animals of the wood. . After the story, the children will have the opportunity to make something out of the collected material, deer statues, dream catchers, animals out of pine comes. A fun event for children aged 4 – 6yrs, based on using the senses, feeling safe, understanding the concepts of flora and fauna and enjoying being within a natural woodland.

I’m a Hedgehog, come along and learn about me in Marlay Park
Come along to this event and encounter a live Hedgehog. Then listen to the story of it’s lifecycle, it’s predators and dangers in the urban environment. How it defends itself and why it’s one of the countries most charming mammals. The event will finish with tips on how to make your garden Hedgehog friendly and what to do or call if you come across one you think is is trouble. Young children will get to make a hedgehog clay sculpture.

Make a Christmas Wreath and Christmas decorations using natural materials in Killiney Hill
Join us for this family craft-making event as we roam around the park looking for natural material to make Christmas wreaths and decorations for the house and tree. Also look out for a learn about the two birds, the Robin and Wren – both that have Irish folklores based on them. A fun festive event for the whole family.
