The 2019/20 dlr First Frames Short Film Awards have been announced. Both films will start production early in 2020 and will be completed by the summer.

Chicken Out

A cash-strapped dad decides to be a mascot of a chicken takeaway to make ends meet for his young family. They need to leave the nest of his overbearing mother, but will the plucky dad be able to last being dressed as a chicken! Written by Imelda Carroll, it will be directed by Richard Keane and produced by Nadege Dumont


A talented composer tries to invoke a spirit through her music, in an effort to alleviate the pain and guilt following a lover’s suicide. Written by Riognach Ní Ghroighair, it will be directed by Riognach and produced by Claire McCabe.


dlr First Frames aims to provide funding and support to emerging filmmakers looking to develop ambitious and creative short films based in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.

The Scheme is fully funded by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Arts Office and DLR Local Enterprise Office, and managed by IADT.  Additional equipment and facilities support are provided by the National Film School, IADT.
