A greenway is to be constructed between Clay Farm Phase One and Cruagh Wood to provide improved permeability and better access for pedestrian and cyclists in the area.
The overall length of the proposed 4 metre wide Greenway will be 835 metres long, with 90 metres consisting of a boardwalk / bridge over an existing flooded plain and stream.
The objectives of the proposed Greenway are:-
- To provide a safe pedestrian / cycle link for residents from the Cruagh Wood / Stepaside Park Residential Estates and the local communities around Stepaside Village area to Public Transport, (Luas), on Ballogan Road and to the adjoining Leopardstown Shopping Centre, local National and Secondary schools and the Samuel Beckett Civic Campus. The alternative journey distance by car, via Enniskerry Road, Kilgobbin Road and Ballyogan Road is in the order of 3 Km.
- To encourage a modal shift away from cars to more sustainable transport modes for local residents.
- To encourage an increase in walking and cycling leisure activities in the area along a calm and scenic avenue separated from the adjoining residential development.
- To provide a pleasant link from Ballyogan Road to the Enniskerry Road and onward to the Dublin Mountains.

Project was tendered in July 2019 and Murphy International Ltd. were awarded the contract
Construction works commenced in August 2019 and it is substantially completed. Landscaping works will be completed when current Covid restrictions are lifted.
