At the December Council Meeting the Council agreed to provide €529,305 in grant funding to 334 projects across the fields of community projects and events, environment, business promotion, heritage, arts and sports.
The purpose of the DLR Grant Scheme is to provide financial assistance to individuals, groups and organisations engaged in projects, events or developments at local or county level within the County of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown. The grants support the Council’s ambition outlined in the Corporate Plan – Driving Quality of Life for all and creating an Environment for Economic Growth.
The grants are diverse and range from support to local community groups in running community events, summer projects, sports activities and community development initiatives. Grants also support business groups with running business promotion events and initiatives that drive footfall and support economic growth. Events, heritage and Festivals grants are available to support and promote key events or festivals throughout the County.
Since 2014, the County Council has awarded over €2.5m in grants. This assistance supports a broad range of activity and successful applicants are required to acknowledge the County Council’s support in publicity related to projects or initiatives that have received such support.
Eight public Grant Scheme information meetings took place across the County in late September and early October 2017, attended by almost 100 groups, to provide advice in relation to the grant process and opportunities. Details were published in local newspapers, on the dlr website, through social media platforms and through the Public Participation Network.
